Sourced from our finest vineyards, these truly distinctive wines perfectly showcase the taste of the Barossa.

GRANT BURGE MESHACH SHIRAZ 2012
RRP $174.99
Available at leading liquor retailers nationwide

The 2012 Meshach is a very complex wine, with an inky dark red colour and intensity. The aromas are a combination of cocoa powder, dark chocolate, toasted oak, dark plums, mulberries and blackberries, with a hint of sweet cinnamon tea cake and beeswax candles.

The palate is textural and richly flavoured, where sweet dark berry fruits are complemented by intense savoury spices and earthy characters. The supple yet structured tannins create a powerful foundation to give the wine exceptional length and structure.

Craig Stansborough, Grant Burge Winemaker, says the Meshach shows good history and is an outstanding wine with pedigree that has fruit sourced from some of the most iconic and historic vineyards.

“This is our 22nd release of the Meshach, and 2012 is regarded as one of the great Barossa vintages with lower than average yields, small berries and ideal ripening conditions.

“This is a five-year-old wine on release which is quite rare in Australia. It is the very best of Barossa Shiraz from our cellar and represents the top 2% of the Shiraz we make,” said Craig.

Meshach Burge was Grant Burge’s great Grandfather, and the man who started the Burge winemaking tradition. In 1865, under the watchful eye of his father, Meshach made the first wines in the family’s winemaking history. In tribute, Grant Burge’s finest Shiraz bears his name.

The fruit for this iconic wine is predominantly handpicked from near-century old vines from the famed Barossa Valley. The aged vines produce fruit with tremendous concentration and intensity that make Meshach powerful, yet beautifully balanced.

A truly distinctive Meshach Shiraz from an outstanding vintage, this wine will age gracefully over the next 15 to 20 years.

GRANT BURGE SHADRACH CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2010
RRP $91.99
Available at leading liquor retailers nationwide

This Cabernet Sauvignon has been sourced entirely from Barossa vineyards. The fruit for the 2010 Shadrach is sourced predominately from the Corryton Park vineyard, high in the cool-climate Eden Valley, where conditions are perfect for growing super-premium Cabernet Sauvignon with great finesse, intensity and structure; this was blended seamlessly with fruit from the Barossa Valley floor with its concentrated rich fruit flavours. The 2010 had a mild growing season leading to an intense and uniform Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2010 Shadrach has great depth of colour and shows concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and eucalypt with hints of mint and vanilla bean. The palate is full bodied with spicy berry fruit and liquorice characters. The rich mid-palate is followed by fine tannins and exceptional length.

The 2010 Shadrach is the epitome of Barossa Cabernet and will age gracefully for 15 years. Ideal food matches include aged beef and game meats.

GRANT BURGE ABEDNEGO SHIRAZ MOURVÈDRE GRENACHE 2014
RRP $77.99
Available at leading liquor retailers nationwide

A few years after the first Meshach was bottled, a super-premium Cabernet Sauvignon was produced to partner that outstanding Shiraz. Searching for a suitable name, Shadrach was eventually chosen from the Old Testament story of the three believers – Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego. So it was only fitting that when the third flagship wine of a Grenache Shiraz Mourvédre blend was produced, it was given the name Abednego to complete the trio.

Fruit for this wine is sourced from vines with over 100 years of age. The old vines deliver fruit with incredible concentration and depth while maintaining a degree of elegance giving the resultant wine the ability to develop over many years.

Due to the dry growing season in 2014, crop levels were very low. However, they produced extremely high quality red wines with great colour and magnificent structure. The hand-picked fruit is a blend of 38% Shiraz, 35% Mourvédre, and 27% Grenache.

The 2014 Abednego is a richly flavoured and elegantly structured wine with aromas of plums, liquorice and is complemented by hints of spice. A beautifully balanced palate with powerful fruit and fine tannins, providing very good texture and excellent length. The dense, mouth-filling mid palate and long, textural finish combine to create a wine that has power and elegance and will sit beautifully on any table now, or cellar gracefully for up to 15 years.
